By Angélica María Gómez:
Activity: Prepare more than one form of evaluation for the same topic and the students to choose the most convenient based on their skills. Values: Diversity, Freedom, Difference What works: Takes advantage of their skills, motivation to do what they like to do What could be better: Ideal: Potential skill; create an envaluation setting according to the skill and be fair; the number of students could be a problem, larger groups can be difficult specially for providing feedback. By Angélica María Gómez: Notes on Writing Different Processes of Learning: Space:
Behave: A space to accept difference processes of learning and to share this knowledge. ...Knowledge can be shown in different ways (Present the ideas even outside of the classroom. Allow others to present or apply a concept.) |
by Daniel Dilliplane:
Activity: Peer Evaluations Values: Equity, Growth, Critique What works: Engagement, reflection What could be better: Critique, personalization Ideal: Combine Peer evaluation process with a discussion of grading and feedback, engage students in formatting of the evaluations, make peer evaluations a recursive process. Thoughts: Finding the time to do all these without losing "content." Also, as difficulties/lack of time arises, need to not reassert authority. Framing--can't get better without criticism > always learning. by Francisco Luso; Places of Interaction (Photo above) Outdoors. No walls. Everyone sitting in a circle. Surrounded by plants, birds, life & water. There are places of interaction with each other & the environment. There is a GARDEN where students grow their own food. No personal electronics, all connection. Places of Interaction. It is the surroundings that bring about the conversations. Are they nourishing us? Are they making us sick? Are they empowering us? Are they oppressing us? The classroom is wherever you are. Move. Meet. Question. Connect. Repeat. The classroom is wherever you are: so we must become adept at MOVING safely through this world. At making quick connections, keen observations, engaging conversations. Transform our space & ourselves as we go. |
